MEN KILL MAN FOR CHRISTMAS MONEY
One man is dead and two others charged with his murder are behind bars after a Monday night shooting at Green Village Mobile Home Park. The 21-year-old Hispanic male victim has been identified as Maximillano Mateo.
Investigators say they believe the suspects were targeting Hispanics for money to buy Christmas presents.
A witness told investigators two black males in a white vehicle drove up beside him and Mateo pointing a gun and demanding money. The first victim gave them $47.00 dollars.
Mateo told the suspects he did not have any cash to give. The first victim told investigators one of the subjects then shot Mateo once and drove off.
Police located a vehicle matching the given description, occupied by Lewis Noland Jr., a 21-year-old black male and Cameron Chappell, a 22-year-old black male. A handgun was recovered from the vehicle.
During the course of the investigation, investigators learned that subjects matching the same description had attempted to rob another Hispanic male near where Mateo was shot.
This bullet struck the residence which was occupied by 6 other people.
Nobody was injured, but the incident has residents worried.
Noland and Chappell were arrested for capital murder, two counts of 1st degree robbery, and shooting into an occupied dwelling.
Investigators believe at least one of the suspects could be linked to the robbery at Green Village that occurred December 5, 2015 where nearly $1,000.00 was taken.
