MEETING TONIGHT ON HIGHWAY 82, SAM SUTTON ROAD INTERSECTION

TUSCALOOSA – After multiple lives taken at a Tuscaloosa County intersection, the Alabama Department of Transportation is taking suggestions on ways to keep that list from growing.
The intersection of U.S. Highway 82 and Sam Sutton Road has been the site of six deaths in the past five years, including 18 year old Jared Gresham. His mother Karen says she doesn’t want any other parent to go through what she’s felt the past three months.
After so many deaths, many elected officials and residents said they’re pushing for the intersection to be closed.
Northport Mayor Bobby Herndon has spoken in favor of closing the intersection since he visited the crash site where three young men were killed in 2011.
