MEDICAL SCHOLARS FORUM CONNECTS STUDENTS WITH PROFESSIONALS

Story by WVUA 23’s Monae Stevens.

The 18th annual McCollough Medical Scholars Forum took place Friday afternoon at Shelby Hall on the University of Alabama campus.

This forum is a way to connect pre-med students with healthcare professionals and medical students to emphasize liberal arts in connection with medical practices and studies.

Students who attended the event were reminded that being a doctor is more than just earning money from practicing medicine.

Susan and Dr. E Gaylon McCollough are founders of the forum.

“Once they learn to be a physician, then there is a responsibility that goes along with that,” Dr. E. Gaylon McCollough said. “To give back to the community, and then to pay forward the educational experience that they’ve experienced for the next generation.”
