McFarland Boulevard directly under the Interstate 20/59 overpass will be closed this weekend so workers can set the new arch for the bridge.

The Alabama Department of Transportation says the area under the bridge is closing Nov. 1 at 8 p.m. until Monday, Nov. 4 at 5 a.m.

Law enforcement officials will be on site to help with traffic. Up on the interstate, two lanes will remain open in each direction.

Expect delays in the area. Motorists are encouraged to use Skyland Boulevard, Interstate 359, Highway 215 or other alternate routes.
