With a retiring skilled labor workforce in West Alabama, companies like McAbee Construction are ready to welcome a new generation workforce to join their ranks. They’ll be at the upcoming Worlds of Work Job Expo for 8th Graders on October 8th and 9th at Shelton State Community College.

The Expo is designed to expose 8th graders to the many different worlds in which they can work or begin a lifelong career in West Alabama. McAbee Construction told Wvua 23’s Jack Royer that the need is great for dedicated skilled workers in the field of construction, as well as many other areas of labor.

McAbee Construction is a large, industrial construction company with nearly two dozen large projects going on at any given time, utilizing nearly 600 employees. Most projects are completed in Tuscaloosa before being transported to their final destination. They are one of the many companies that will be at the Worlds of Work Expo at Shelton State Community College on October 8th and 9th.
