MAYORS FROM FIVE CITIES MEET IN TUSCALOOSA

The mayors from Alabama’s five largest cities came together Sunday and Monday in Tuscaloosa, to learn from each other.
Tuscaloosa Mayor, Walt Maddox welcomed Mayor William Bell of Birmingham, Mayor Tommy Battle of of Huntsville, Mayor Sandy Stimpson of Mobile and Mayor Todd Strange of Montgomery.
Strange initiated the meetings as a way to benefit the people they represent and to strengthen the state’s metro areas, which make up nearly half of Alabama’s population.
Maddox tells us issues on this weekend’s agenda included ride-sharing services, opportunity gaps in our communities, infrastructure and healthcare costs for employees.
The mayors all agree solutions have come from these meetings and this is something they plan on continuing to do in the future.
This is sixth time the five cities’ mayors have come together since early 2014.
