Mayberry came to Tuscaloosa Thursday to help raise money for a good cause.

The tournament is held in conjunction with a dinner auction with the proceeds being used to help with the operation of Eagles’ Wings.

Eagles’ Wings is a non-profit agency that provides day habilitation services for adults with developmental disabilities.

Eagles’ Wings President Jerry Pike, whose son Joey was born with developmental disability, says they saw a need for a place for these individuals.

“I’m not trying to be corny but we knew there was a need, and we knew if we built it today would come, and they have, they really have. We have a waiting list from wanting in,” said Pike.

The tournament draws many golfers, all competing for prizes as well as helping Eagles’ Wings.

One added treat is the visit each year from the Mayberry tribute artists, who have become a staple of the event.
