MATTHEWS INDICTED ON MURDER CHARGE

Shadrell Matthews, 37, has been charged with theft of property and the 2013 murder of Antonio Williams. Williams’ skeletal remains were found in a wooded area off Joe Mallisham Parkway on Sept. 7, 2013. Alexius Foster, 37, has already been charged in the murder of Williams. Matthews and Foster are also charged in the 2013 murder of George Foster.

George Foster, Alexius Foster’s uncle, was found dead in his home in Tuscaloosa on June 13, 2013. Williams was murdered at a Holt residence on July 17th, 2013. Police said Alexius Foster murdered Williams because Williams spoke to investigators about George Foster’s death. Police said Williams may have been a witness to the crime.

Alexius Foster was standing trial for George Foster’s murder when Matthews was arrested in connection with that case. Tuscaloosa County Circuit Court Judge John England accepted Foster’s attorney’s motion for a mistrial, and Foster will be tried again.
