ALEA confirms the number of people injured at the Sweet 16 party is now up to 32.
================================================
Four people, including teenagers, were killed in a mass shooting at a Sweet 16 birthday party in Dadeville in Tallapoosa county late Saturday night.
“There were four lives, not fatalities, lives. There were four lives tragically lost in this incident and there’s been a multitude of injuries,” Sergeant Jeremy J. Burkett with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said.
At least 15 teenagers were treated for gunshot wounds and six of them have been released from the hospital.
“It started off with a 16-year-old, had a, just a party, you know, normal party for a 16-year-old. And from what I understand, he had somebody in there that had a gun, somehow walked in with a gun and just opened up fire you for no reason, you know, nice party, nice family. Just one of them things,” said Dadeville High School Coach Michael Taylor.
One of the teenagers killed was a football player at Dadeville High School.
“Phil just told me about a month ago , said coach, if anything ever happened to me, even when I go to college , take care of my two sisters. I never dreamed that he was talking about this,” Taylor said.
Five teenagers remain in critical condition. The conditions of the remaining teenagers are unknown.
