MARK NELSON NOMINATED FOR BOBBY MILLER’S COUNTY COMMISSION SEAT

By WVUA 23 Student Reporter Alexa Armstrong

TUSCALOOSA – It’s been more than a month since the death of County Commissioner Bobby Miller, and now his vacant seat has a potential nominee ready to fill it.

Mark C. Nelson, vice president of the Tuscaloosa County School Board, was chosen as the Republican nominee for District 3 County Commissioner.

Nelson served on the Tuscaloosa Board of Education for more than five years, and said he feels his experience there will help him serve residents of District 3.

Nelson said he will resign from his Board of Education position after he is appointed to the Commission by Gov. Robert Bentley or he is elected.

Nelson’s name is the only one on Tuesday’s ballot, but he will not formally be a County Commissioner until he is officially appointed.
