A man is dead after his SUV was swept away by floodwaters Saturday in Tuscaloosa.
Kelvin Watford, 40, of Tuscaloosa, was found about a quarter-mile downstream from where he went missing in a wooded area west of Interstate 359 early Sunday by a family friend assisting with the search.
Tuscaloosa Police and Fire Rescue Service were called to Bonita Terrace around 2 p.m. after an SUV was swept into the drainage ditch running west alongside 14th Avenue and under Greensboro Avenue.
A witness told police he saw the vehicle get stuck in the drainage tunnel while floodwaters surrounded it before seeing Watford vanish underwater.
