MAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE DRIVEN BY WIFE, WHO’S CHARGED WITH DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

A man is recovering at DCH Regional Medical Center and his wife is facing domestic violence charges after he was hit by a car driven by his wife.

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office said witnesses said the victim’s wife, Amanda Higginbotham, 41, was damaging the victim’s vehicle and when the victim stepped into the roadway, Higginbotham struck him with the front of the vehicle she was driving and then left the scene.

Investigators said Higginbotham said she was at the victim’s address and struck the victim with the door of her vehicle.

Higginbotham was charged with second-degree domestic violence assault and was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail pending a $15,000 bond, along with a mandatory 24-hour hold because of the domestic violence arrest.

Authorities said the victim’s injuries appear non life-threatening.
