Man kills woman, child before turning gun on himself in Tuscaloosa
UPDATE: The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has announced the names of the victims and shooter from a murder-suicide this morning in Tuscaloosa County.
The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in Hinton Place on a shooting around 3 a.m., and deputies who arrived on the scene were told by witnesses that 34-year-old Darrin Lamar Patton Jr. may have shot his girlfriend in the home during an argument.
The witness said they’d run out of the home before deputies arrived and said Patton, 29-year-old Derika Shanice McGhee and 8-year-old Aiden Carter Williams were still inside.
When the Sheriff’s Office Tactical Unit entered the home, they found all three dead. All signs point to Patton having killed McGhee and Williams before killing himself.
Patton is not the father of the child, investigators said.
