MAN KILLS EX-WIFE, STARTS TWO-HOUR STANDOFF WITH POLICE
DECATUR, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say a man accused of fatally shooting his former wife has been arrested following a two-hour standoff with police.
Decatur police say that Roger Dale Stevens has been charged with murder in the death of 62-year-old Kay Stevens. Police say Roger Stevens waited Saturday morning for his former wife to arrive for work at a bakery and approached her with a pistol.
Police say Kay Stevens was shot multiple times.
Kay Stevens was taken to Decatur Morgan Hospital, where she later died.
Roger Stevens was located in Limestone County and locked himself inside a tractor trailer, before the standoff. No officers were injured.
Roger Stevens is being held in the Morgan County Jail on a $250,000 bond. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.
