MAN GIVEN FOUR LIFE SENTENCES FOR RAPE AND BURGLARY
DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) – A southeast Alabama man convicted of raping a teenage girl during a burglary has been given four life prison sentences.
Media reports that 50-year-old Cleveland Thomas Jr. was sentenced after pleading guilty to burglary, kidnapping, rape, sodomy, sexual abuse and assault.
Authorities have said the attack happened in February 2014 and the 14-year-old victim identified Thomas as the suspect. Assistant District Attorney Banks Smith has said Thomas was linked to the attack through DNA evidence.
Smith said Thomas also had two prior felony convictions on his record.
