MAN FOUND GUILTY OF 2016 RAPE THAT HAPPENED AFTER IRON BOWL
A man accused of raping and sodomizing a University of Alabama student at her home after the 2016 Iron Bowl has been found guilty.
Colby Lewis was arrested in 2018 after he was charged with committing a separate crime and his DNA came up as a match for the 2016 rape kit.
Tuscaloosa County Chief Deputy District Attorney Paula Hearing said she hopes the victim gets some sense of closure out of the verdict.
“It has been a long process and she is one of the strongest young ladies that I have ever met,” Hearing said. “She is a role model for other victims to come forward and report what has happened to them and see it to a verdict.”
A sentencing date has not yet been set.
