MAN FACING ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES AFTER LATE-NIGHT FIGHT OUTSIDE BAR
One man is facing attempted murder charges after a shooting outside a bar near the Strip just off the University of Alabama campus.
It happened around 11:50 p.m. at High Tide Bar, 508 Red Drew Ave.
The victim, who was working security at the bar, said he denied entry to 28-year-old Anatwan Somerville over dress code and identification issues. Somerville then got into an argument with the victim. During the argument, the victim and witnesses said the suspect tried pulling a gun from his clothes.
A fight ensued and several shots went off. One of those shots struck the victim in his arm.
Police said witnesses and video surveillance supports the victim’s account of the incident, and Somerville was charged with one count of attempted murder and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
