A man driving on the wrong side of Interstate 59 died in the wake of a four-vehicle crash Monday afternoon.
Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Highway Patrol Division troopers said 72-year-old Robert Tannehill died when the pickup he was driving collided head-on with a car.
The car’s driver and her 2-year-old passenger, who was not restrained properly, were transported to a nearby hospital. Their injuries are unknown.
Two other vehicles were affected by the collision.
Tannehill was traveling north in the southbound lanes on Interstate 59 near the 116-mile marker, about 3 miles south of Hueytown. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are trying to determine why Tannehill was driving on the wrong side of the interstate.
