SUSPECT ARRESTED, MAN DEAD AFTER SHOOTING IN TUSCALOOSA
UPDATE: Suspected shooter now in custody.
TUSCALOOSA – Investigators arrested 18-year-old Brelin Gage McAlpine and charged him with murder after a 29-year-old man was shot and killed in Tuscaloosa.
Tuscaloosa Police say homicide investigators responded to a call in the 3000 block of 41st Avenue around 9:15 p.m. Sunday.
The victim, Stephen Marquis Gaines, was at his residence when his girlfriend and her friend came to visit. Police said the victim and his girlfriend had an argument, which turned physical outside the home. That’s when Gaines went inside and came back out with a gun.
Police said Gaines fired a shot as his girlfriend drove away, hitting the passenger’s side mirror.
About an hour later, witnesses said two unknown black males and two unknown black females arrived at the residence, where another argument occurred between the victim and the males.
Police said one of the men pulled a gun and shot Gaines twice. He was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
