MAN CHARGED IN CHILD’S MURDER

Three suspects are now in custody after a three-year-old child was killed in Greene County.
Thirty-two year old Harper Colvin has been charged with murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
The shooting occurred Friday afternoon just before four on Barron Road in Knoxville.
Layton Cochran was in the back seat of a car when he was shot and killed.
Labryant Whitehead, Tymon Davis and Harper Colvin were on the scene of the shooting and taken into custody on Friday as persons of interest.
District Attorney Greg Griggers tells us there is no evidence the shooting was preconceived, but authorities believe Layton’s father, Larry Cochran Jr., was the intended target.
Therefore, at this time Whitehead and Davis are only being charged with hindering prosecution in the first degree.
Griggers says this particular case is so tragic because an innocent life that had barely begun was taken.

Griggers also says the three men charged were all close friends with Layton’s father and at least one of them is a relative to the Cochrans.
