MAN ARRESTED IN UNIVERSITY DOWNS SHOOTING WEDNESDAY

A man is behind bars and facing attempted murder charges after a shooting at University Downs apartments Thursday afternoon.

Tuscaloosa Police said it happened around 3:40 p.m. at the apartment complex located at 120 15th Street East.

The 23-year-old victim was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment, and is in stable condition.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit developed and located a suspect in Jefferson County overnight, and the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered as well.

Authorities say the suspect, identified as 27-year-old Byron Lee Robertson II, and the victim knew each other and were involved in an argument that became violent.

Robertson was charged with one count of attempted murder and was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $60,000 bond.
