COLUMBIANA, Ala. (AP) – Shelby County sheriff’s officials say a man has been arrested in the death of a Shelby County woman who had been reported missing.
Sheriff John Samaniego said in a release Tuesday that 19-year-old Demarcus Means was taken into custody in Los Angeles by U.S. Marshals. Authorities say he’s charged with murder in the death of 18-year-old Haleigh Danielle Green of Shelby and will be held on $500,000 bond.
Authorities have said Green’s relatives reported her missing July 6. Investigators have said Green’s red Ford Mustang was found on a road in unincorporated Shelby County July 11 and her body was recovered nearby. Green was a student at Lawson State Community College.
