Man, 23, facing rape charges; Violent Crimes Unit searching for more victims

A man is facing sexual assault charges after a victim reported he trapped her in his home and assaulted her after she traveled to his home.

Northport Police responded around 6 p.m. Saturday, and the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit’s Sexual Assault Section assumed the investigation soon after.

Lazerick Deon Benjamin, 23, was charged with one count of first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sodomy.

Benjamin was out on bond in a previous robbery charge, so he was placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.
