MALL RAPE SUSPECT TURNS HIMSELF IN

Seventeen year old Cedrick Lamar Collins has turned himself in to authorities.
He’s the suspect accused of kidnapping and raping a University Mall employee in broad daylight Black Friday morning. The victim is a 19- year-old white female who told authorities she was sitting in her car in the University Mall parking lot when Collins approached her window and asked to use her cell phone.
She told authorities after she agreed and handed him the phone, he came around to the passenger side and got in.
That’s when she says he told her he had a gun and instructed her to go to an ATM to withdraw cash. Investigators tell us video surveillance supports this claim.
After she gave him the money, the victim says Collins forced her to drive to an abandoned property off of Martin Luther King Boulevard, where he sexually assaulted her.
Cedrick Collins turned himself in to police Monday afternoon and has been charged with kidnapping, rape and robbery in the first degree.
Sergeant Jeremy Franks says no matter where you are or what time of day it is, if a stranger approaches you, you can never be too careful.

Collins is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $120,000 bond.
