MADDOX ENCOURAGES COMMUNITY TO MAKE NOISE FOR HEROES

Walt Maddox

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox is hoping to start a new trend that shows appreciation for those working to combat COVID-19. Maddox is encouraging everyone to “make some noise for Tuscaloosa heroes” every Monday and Friday at 3 p.m. beginning Monday, April 6.

“We got this community full of heroes,” Maddox said in a video posted to Facebook. “Our front line responders at DCH and medical clinics across Tuscaloosa. We have our first responders, our police officers, fire fighters, paramedics who are going to work every day putting themselves at risk to keep us safe … We have a lot of heroes right now that are taking on COVID-19 and we need to show our thanks.”

Maddox is hoping people will make noise anyway they know how to show their thanks.

“If you can, stop what you’re doing, applaud, honk the horn, ring the church bell, ring the doorbells, whatever it may be to show our appreciation for all of those on the front lines keeping Tuscaloosa safe,” Maddox said.
