MADDOX: CITY NOT READY TO REOPEN, BUT WE’LL ANNOUNCE OUR PLANS APRIL 28

Entertainment District Downtown Tuscaloosa2

Tuscaloosa Mayor Walt Maddox says he’s working on plans for reopening the city, whenever that day arrives.

The mayor’s recommendations will require several essential components, including having a health care-driven plan reviewed and approved by a medical team, ensuring the city is following state and Alabama Department of Public Health orders, and being flexible to the needs of Tuscaloosa as a whole.

“I do believe, based off what we know today, is that the data is clear that we have made significant progress,” Maddox said. “It will be premature to reopen today, but its not premature to begin the planning stages for reopening.”

Maddox is presenting his proposed plan April 28, and said plan would be going into effect some time after that date.
