A Tuscaloosa County grand jury indicted the man accused of killing Tuscaloosa Police officer Dornell Cousette.

Investigators say Cousette saw Luther Watkins on the porch of a home on the 1700 block of 33rd Avenue in West Tuscaloosa. They say Watkins then ran inside the house, Cousette ordered him to stop, but he didn’t.

That’s when they say Cousette followed him inside and an exchange of gunfire began. Cousette died from his injuries, while Watkins was injured.

Watkins is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail on bond.
