LURLEEN WALLACE ROAD WORK CLOSES PORTION OF UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD

If the price of progress is road work, then Tuscaloosa should be paid up for the next several decades.

That’s not much consolation for commuters who traverse downtown Tuscaloosa daily, nor is the fact that it’ll get worse before it gets better.

The Alabama Department of Transportation is doing quite a bit of work on Lurleen Wallace Boulevard over the next year and a half, and this week that work extends onto University Boulevard between the northbound and southbound portions.

ALDOT said businesses in that area are still accessible, but they expect that portion of University Boulevard to stay closed for about a week.

Businesses affected include O’Henry’s Coffee, Frutta Bowls and Attick Furniture and Consignment.
