Loves Truck Stop

A truck stop is bringing dozens of jobs to Greene County when it opens next year.

Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores is adding its 14th Alabama location off Interstate 20/59 near Eutaw, at Exit 40.

Eutaw residents, city leaders and even Alabama’s governor gathered Monday for the groundbreaking.

The truck stop will employ more than 43 people, and Gov. Kay Ivey said she hopes this project will bring economic growth to the city of Eutaw and the surrounding area.

Residents said they’re thrilled to see a business bringing jobs to the area.

“Notice all the excitement of all the people that are here. Everybody’s proud to be here. The public, the individuals, citizens support this project and support Love’s expansion to add another location so this is great news,” Ivey said.

The travel stop will include a convenience store and two fast food locations as well as a gas station for commercial and personal vehicles.

Eutaw Mayor Raymond Steele said he believes the $12 million investment is a breakthrough for the Alabama black belt.

“I think this Loves Truck Stop will be a catalyst for other growth. Not just in the travel industry but in food as well as other commercial development,” Steele said.

Vice President of Love’s Communications Jenny Love-Meyer said, construction should take about one year.
