Looking for work? Plenty of local businesses are seeking employees

Business owners in Tuscaloosa are ready to hire for the summer months, with students leaving for summer break at the end of April.

“Through graduation I lose people and then a lot of the students just going home,” said TuscNY owner Dan Robinson. “I say I’m 99% student employees. We’re getting a little bit worried, so we’ve put out on social media trying to find people full or part-time.”

Businesses also have fewer customers during summer break because the student population is gone for the next few months. While that can be difficult for business owners, they love seeing more locals out on the town.

“When (college students) leave town, it seems like the locals come out, and we love the locals,” said World of Beer General Manager Will Turner. “They just don’t like to come out with the students all out and about.”
