LOCAL TEENS VANDALIZE AND BURGLARIZE LOCAL CHURCHES

Fosters Church

The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Office investigators quickly identified and apprehended four young men for vandalizing and stealing from several local churches over the weekend.

Only two of the suspects’ names were released due to age restrictions. Zack Slaughter and Joshua Plowman were booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail with six counts of burglary, one for each church that the teens broke into, vandalized and then stole from. The impacted churches are all in the Fosters and Ralph area and include Victorious Life Church, Grant’s Creek Baptist, Dry Creek Missionary Baptist, Mt. Zion Baptist, Sylvan Road United Methodist and Wesley Chapel United Methodist.

The pastor of Sylvan Road United Methodist and Wesley Chapel United Methodist had a message for the teens.

“First of all I just want them to know we are not mad at them,” Jim Smith said. “We forgive them. In the society we live in, it is a reap what you sow society. I am sure there will be consequences for their actions. I just want them to know we are not mad at them. And when this is all over, we are here for them if there is anything we can do for them. And we want to be here for them.”

The other two suspects were taken to the Tuscaloosa County Detention Center. Investigators say there is no reason to believe that any other churches are in any danger from this group.
