St Jude

TUSCALOOSA – For 10 years now, DJ Monk  has helped with the 95.3 The Bear’s annual radiothon to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

While working in the studio for his first radiothon, Monk said he heard a heartbreaking story about a mother losing her child to cancer.

After Monk heard this story he was moved to do whatever he could to help St. Jude, despite the distance between Memphis and Tuscaloosa.

95.3 The Bear has made the radiothon a major priority by travelling to Memphis, touring St. Jude, and attending seminars and lectures to learn everything they can about St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Beginning at 6 a.m. Thursday morning, the radiothon received generous donations from callers all over Tuscaloosa.

The radiothon will continue through this evening, when the total amount raised will be announced.

This year’s goal was to beat last year’s amount by doubling it, reaching $40,000.

If you want to donate to the St. Jude radiothon you can call 800-372-4999.
