LOCAL NONPROFITS PROVIDE MEALS FOR THOSE IN NEED

Temporary Emergency Services

Several local nonprofits have teamed up to feed those in need in the Tuscaloosa area.

Temporary Emergency Services and Community Service Programs of West Alabama are providing warm meals. Those in need of nourishment can find it at Temporary Emergency Services on 15th Street in Tuscaloosa on Sunday at noon. The meal will be a grab and go to ensure proper social distancing procedures are followed.

“Because so many people have been affected by this, and these are unprecedented times that we are in, I think it is important that we realize that helping other nonprofits is not unheard of,” said Sontonia Stephens, the director of compliance at Community Programs of West Alabama. “We are all in this together and we do have to help one another out. If you want to donate, please donate.”

If you need assistance with food, bills or other issues, help is available. Call the United Way of West Alabama at 211 or 205-345-7775 to speak with someone about available resources and assistance.
