LOCAL CONGREGATION GROWING FRUITS, VEGGIES FOR THOSE IN NEED

Jeremiahs Garden

Holy Spirit Catholic Church’s green-thumbed congregation members are pitching and helping their neighbors through hands-on work and dedication.

Jeremiah’s Garden began back in March, and their harvest is now in. About 900 pounds of vegetables were donated to the West Alabama Food Bank and 100 seniors who live in poverty.

Garden manager Roy Lofton said they operate thanks to donations of time and money.

“In my wildest dream I never thought I would be looked upon or thought of in this manner that we’re doing something of this nature,” he said. “I always like to share. I always like to think positive. And for some reason other people coming on board feeling and thinking the same way.”
