A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held Friday for the Alberta Parkway and the re-opening of the Tuscaloosa Tennis Center.

After the opening ceremony, the Boys and Girls Clubs of West Alabama were treated to a day of tennis and technology. The event was a way to help bring the Alberta community back.

“We love to see, you know, when you put so much of the public dollars into [a place]like this Alberta Parkway and the tennis center and the gateway,” District 5 Councilman Kip Tyner said. “And the park in front of the school then where all the kids are going to be able to enjoy all of these areas today. They’re going to be able to have free tennis lessons today and have a chance maybe to hold a racket for the first time, and they can just walk down the parkway to the gateway.”
