LIGHTNING STRIKE MAY HAVE KILLED PRATTVILLE WOMAN

PRATTVILLE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say a central Alabama woman may have been fatally struck by lightning while she was picking berries in her yard.

Autauga County Sheriff Joe Sedinger says the 73-year-old woman was picking blueberries under a tree in her yard and the tree had apparently been struck by lightning.

Sedinger says the woman’s brother grew concerned because he didn’t hear from her and he found her body Friday evening.

Sedinger says people should go inside if they hear thunder because lightning is likely nearby.
