If you’ve seen Northport Fire Rescue on 5th Street this week, no need to be alarmed! Their Special Ops Team has been practicing what’s called Low Angle Rescue. You may ask,”What exactly is Low Angle Rescue?”
Well, it consists of exercises to familiarize fire rescue teams with the best ways to transport a victim of an accident in a low angled environment. The firemen have to be skilled in locating, gaining access to, and stabilizing the patient. Once those steps are complete, the patient must be properly packaged and prepared for transport.  Firefighters use rope hardware for rigging, lowering and raising during a rescue..
