LEI DOWN A FIGHT FOR HUNGER HOSTED AT GALLETES

By WVUA 23 Web Writer Taryn Leighton

On Saturday April 7 newly renovated student bar staple Gallettes is hosting a Luau for Lunches from 2 to 6 p.m. to support West Alabama students who are lacking in food when they leave school.

It costs $140 to provide one child with weekend meals for the entire year so there are hopes that the proceeds will be significant enough to assist these children.

All proceeds donated will be going directly to purchasing food packs for children in need.

The cost of admission will be $5 for anyone older than 21 and $10 for those between 18 and 21, or you have the ability to purchase a $5 wristband before the event.

There will also be a silent auction and other activities to encourage additional involvement and donations to this beneficial cause.

The food packages are secretly slipped into children’s backpacks on Fridays to help them from feeling singled out and it is a nice way to start their weekend by unloading their backpacks at home and finding some delicious food.
