After a competitive election, the city of Tuscaloosa officially sworn in Lee Busby to the District 4 Seat. Busby said he is excited about serving the Tuscaloosa community and coming together to get things done.

“I think the first thing is we had a competitive race here for the first time in this district in 22 years or something like that. We are done with that and now we are going to pull together and act as one team and take care of the things that need to be done here,” said Busby.

The longtime Tuscaloosa resident was accompanied by family and friends. Busby retired as Marine Corps Colonel and is ready for a shift of direction into politics.

“Someone told me today to remember to smile and I said that wasn’t part of my other training. I think the discipline and focus will help,” said Busby.

Busby was elected to the District 4 seat in a special election. He replaces former councilman Matt Calderone, who left his position because of a move into another district in Tuscaloosa.

He said he’s excited to tackle issues like city infrastructure while in office.
