Latest numbers: More than 500 students, staff at Alabama positive for COVID-19

Alabama reports 498 COVID-19 cases since start of spring semester: Jan. 19, 2022

The University of Alabama’s COVID-19 numbers remain high as the semester gets under way, according to the latest update of the University of Alabama System COVID-19 Dashboard.

In the update dated Jan. 24, the UA System reported a total of 522 positive COVID-19 cases between Jan. 17 and Jan. 23. Of those, 393 are students and 129 are faculty or staff members. Those numbers only include students, faculty and staff who reported their positive status to the university.

Last week, the UA System reported 358 students and 140 faculty or staff members as being positive for COVID-19, for a total of 498 positives.
