Lake View sewer amendment clears Senate committee

LAKE VIEW – A couple of weeks ago Lake View residents and city leaders celebrated as house bill 148 passed the house chamber.

March 16, local and state leaders met in Montgomery to discuss the bill further.

It was a big day for Lake View residents and city leaders as shared their stories in a public hearing.

House Bill 148 aims to move privately-owned sewer entities in Tuscaloosa County to be managed by the Public Service Commission.

The bill was presented to the Senate Fiscal Responsibility and Economic Development Committee.

Lake View Mayor Adrian Dudley said the bill was presented by senator Singleton, as well as State Rep. Rich Wingo who spoke on the bill and then allowed Dudley the opportunity to speak.

“It will move on to the senate floor, and if the senate passes it, it will go on to the governor to sign and then it will be on the ballot for people to vote,” Dudley said.

No word on when it will go through the senate floor we will keep you updated as more information is available.
