Applications for the 49th Kentuck Festival of the Arts are coming up and the pressure is on for artists to put their best foot forward when applying for a spot at the festival. But Kentuck isn’t the only festival out there.
On Saturday, Kentuck hosted a workshop, going through every step of the festival application process so artists new to the festival scene can get a leg up on the competition.
Artists discussed everything from picking which festivals to apply to, taking pictures of their work, and even how to talk with people walking into their booth once they make it into a festival.

“The point of the workshop was to get people some information about how to apply to some festivals, how to choose a festival, how to put your best foot forward on their applications, and then how to interact with the public a little while they are at a festival,” said Kentuck Director of Experiences Sherri Warner.

Warner said the most important thing to remember is also the simplest: Don’t give up.

The application for the 2020 Kentuck festival opens March 1 and closes June 1. This year’s festival is happening Oct. 10 and Oct. 11.
