Katie Britt looking forward to first day at Senate
U.S Sen-elect Katie Britt made a special stop at Friday’s Nick’s Kinds Foundation luncheon.
Britt is preparing to take office next month as U.S. Sen. Richard Shelby’s replacement.
Britt won last month’s election with 66% of the vote and is the first Alabama woman elected to the U.S. Senate.
The 40-year-old married mother of two is now the youngest female GOP senator.
Britt said she’s looking forward to seeing what she can accomplish.
“We are putting together a team to address the needs of the state of Alabama,” Britt said. “We are also looking forward to getting our committee assignments. So we know how we can work hard to put the nation in a better place and make sure Alabamians are better as a result of my service.”
Britt will be sworn into office Jan. 3,
