Kappa Alpha Psi is on par with education funding

The Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity hit the golf course recently, but it was about more than working on their handicaps. Members were there raising money for local education scholarships with the Albert Dean Wilson Memorial Golf Tournament on Saturday.

All proceeds raised at the tournament are going toward scholarships split between schools participating in the program.

“We really don’t get enough funding in our education here in the state of Alabama,” said tournament chair Deboris Lanier. “So while we’re here in West Alabama, anything that we can do we’re going to make sure we do.”

Lanier said the tournament usually raises at least $5,000, but they’ve topped $12,000 in especially lucrative years.
