Jury begins deliberations in Roy Moore defamation case

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) – Jurors have begun deliberations in dueling defamation lawsuits brought by former U.S. Senate candidate Roy Moore and a woman who accused him of sexual misconduct.
In closing arguments Tuesday, attorneys told jurors they must decide who is telling the truth. Leigh Corfman filed suit alleging Moore defamed her by branding her a liar when he denied the accusations during the 2017 Senate race.
Moore countersued, claiming Corfman injured his reputation with false allegations meant to hurt him politically.
Jurors will decide both claims at the trial. Jurors met for about an hour before breaking for the day. They will resume discussions Wednesday morning.
