JUDICIAL ASSISTANT CHARGED WITH SELLING METHAMPHETAMINE
A judicial assistant for Judge James Roberts in Tuscaloosa County was arrested Monday on drug trafficking charges after a month-long investigation.
Mattie Neal Newell, 29, has been charged with unlawful distribution of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
The Tuscaloosa Police Department said Newell sold a quantity of methamphetamine to a confidential informant on two separate occasions.
Newell was taken to the Tuscaloosa County Jail on a $66,000 bond.
