The COVID-19 pandemic has caused the unemployment rate to skyrocket, causing it to hit 14.7 percent last week, but despite that many businesses are still hiring.

Whether you have been fired, laid-off, or furloughed, millions of Americans are looking for work and there are many companies that are looking to hire.

Companies like Instacart, Postmates, and Grubhub have reported a demand for both grocery and food delivery. Instacart alone has hired or plans to hire more than 500,000 “shoppers.”

Pizza places and fast food restaurants are also posting open positions. One Taco Bell location is even putting “wanted” flyers in customers bags of food.

Online shopping is another industry that has exploded during the stay at home order. FedEx has over 850 positions open for hire.

Discount stores like Dollar General and Dollar Tree remained open throughout the pandemic and are still hiring more employees to deal with the increase in business.

Pharmacies have also seen an increase in sales and have opened up more positions for potential employees.

Even industries you might not think of are seeing more demands. With offices and buildings closing, the private security sector has also seen an increase in demand. One company, Securitas, is encouraging those who have been furloughed from other jobs to apply.

Anyone looking for work could also look for jobs in education, technology and entertainment, or manufacturing as they all need more employees throughout the pandemic.

Despite the uncertainty, there are plenty of options out there for people looking for work whether the job be for the long haul or just until things return to normal. All you have to do is start looking.
