A candlelight vigil is being held tonight in Jasper in honor of victims of violent crime, and will feature a prominent keynote speaker.

Kim Goldman, whose brother Ron was murdered in 1994, will address the crowd. Ron Goldman was killed along with Nicole Brown Simpson, leading to the famous indictment, trial and acquittal of O.J. Simpson.

The annual event was started in 2011 by Walker County District Attorney Bill Adair, whose father was murdered.

Adair is looking forward to having such an important speaker come to Walker County.

“We’re very proud to have her come to Jasper,” Adair said. “She could have gone anywhere in the country this week, and she decided to come to Jasper.”

The event will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. at Community Health Systems in Jasper.
