Jasper teen dies in Monday evening crash

A two-vehicle crash Monday evening in Walker County has killed a teenager who lived in Jasper.

The crash happened on Alabama State Route 257 near the 3-mile marker, about 2 miles north of Jasper in Walker County.

The 17-year-old, who has not yet been identified by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, was fatally injured when the car he was driving crashed head-on with an SUV driven by another Jasper resident. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the SUV was taken to UAB Hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating the cause of the crash.
