It’s official: Masks are back at Tuscaloosa City Schools
After suggesting the potential on Monday, Tuscaloosa City Schools students will return to school with masks after the three-day weekend.
In an email sent this morning, TCS said the two-week student positive rate sits at 2.14%, more than double the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education’s approved 1% threshold for masks.
In the email, TCS said that while the mandate doesn’t go into effect until Tuesday, students and employees are highly requested to put masks on Thursday and Friday.
The school system will review the mask mandate again Jan. 28. If the positive rate is at 1% or below, TCS will return to masks being optional. However, if the percentage is above 1%, we will remain as masks required.
